About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Two very different experiences at the same hospital. An emergency admission with a 12 hour wait in accident and emergency - time spent on a trolley (not a bed) with not even a pillow. Had to walk to toilet when not well. Paramedic rescued me and got me back to bed, checked oxygen levels (dangerously low) and put me back on my oxygen. I cannot thank that ambulance an enough, they're my hero! However must mention MAU. Fantastic staff who I cannot praise enough. As I felt very safe on here I was very reluctant to leave as I was told I would be transferring to another ward. Needn't have worried. Went on to C7 and the staff here were excellent. Very caring and professional who carried out their duties willingly and with good humour. the staff on MAU and C7 are indeed 'Angels'. How can one hospital give me two very different experiences? No idea what to put for my 'overall' experience - just know that MAU and C7 were absolutely fantastic. Hope they get to hear that patients appreciate it.

Dear Ms Tate Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our Emergency Department, MAU and also C7 wards at Royal Blackburn Hospital, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I will make sure your concerns and also appreciation are passed onto the teams you mention. I am sorry to hear that your initial care with us did not meet your needs and I have shared your comment with the matron from the ED so that she can share this with her team. However, I am very pleased to hear that your experience on MAU and C7 were really positive as we always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care. If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made this both a poor and good visit for you we would really value this so that we can try to improve our hospitals and services. You can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 733716 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. Or if you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Many thanks again for commenting and best wishes on your continued recovery Wendy Stobbs, Senior Patient Experience Facilitator
