I had an eight week placement at Rising Brook District Nursing in Stafford. I was amazed at how welcomed I was to the team as well as how much I was able to learn whilst there.
I accompanied my mentor and staff nurses for my eight week placement over Christmas 2014 and helped deliver care palliative care, wound care, continence and equipment assessments and delivering flu vaccinations.
In addition, I also working in the office allocating staff case loads and ensuring the most appropriately skilled member of staff was allocated each case and I worked on the Single Point of Access (SPA) desk to book new and existing patients into the caseload and handle emergency calls.
I cannot fault the dedication and care the district nurses at Rising Brook show on a daily basis and learnt more while there than I could have hoped for. I am forever grateful for my time there and the support I was given as a student nurse.
