I have been treated at the Rosemere Cancer Unit at Royal Preston hospital. From my diagnosis in 2012 to full remission to date, my consultant has ensured that I knew that my care was important as an individual patient, and that I would never be rushed when it came to understanding my illness, treatment options and post-treatment recovery. Consistently over the last 3 years, a member of the consultant's specialist nursing team has been available in person at the hospital or by phone (always returning my call if not available when I called), when I've had any concerns or questions. Clinic waiting times are sometimes long but this is understandable (and applies to NHS hospitals generally), given the volume of patients, doctors juggling on-call obligations and out patient clinics, and in the case of cancer treatment, the case-by-case nature of treating a complex illness. In summary, I have felt that as well as feeling assured of the high level of technical medical expertise of the Rosemere Centre's consultant and nursing teams, all of the staff who have treated me over the last 3 years have shown consideration and care in delivering my treatment. Lastly....I would normally leave my name under any review I give and am only anonymous here for confidentiality re: my illness.
