"Very disappointing"

About: Beaumont Hospital

My appointment time was changed twice in 24 hours. Once with my permission and once without. Getting hold of the right person when I rang about this was incredibly difficult and frustrating. On arriving for my appointment, it was very difficult to find a parking space and there are several areas which are dead ends and are difficult to manoeuvre into and out of. Reception is anything other than private and the staff there are a little aloof and patronising, when they aren't ignoring patients to sort out a broken printer. The drinks machine in the reception area was cluttered with dirty cups etc, which immediately gave a bad impression. Staff in general have a laissez faire attitude and a good example of this was having to wait 30 minutes for a simple blood test. Had I not interrupted 3 staff talking in the office I would probably still be there. This having been promised that the delay would be about two or three minutes. The only good thing was the attitude and approachability of the consultant, who could teach the hospital staff a thing or two about how people should be treated. I have visited Wigan and Chorley hospitals lately and the friendliness, warmth and efficiency of the NHS staff was far superior to the BMI at Beaumont.
