During the last three years of cancer treatment, comprising swift diagnosis, chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and various surgeries at The Royal Berkshire Hospital I have encountered several medical services. The medical professionals have consistently extended great care and effectiveness within the available time frames and environment. As my family observed ‘It may not be the best looking of hospitals but they do a good job’. Appointment and initial computer says no issues aside RBH seems fairly joined up. There is good reason why their infection rates remain comparatively low. Throughout treatment I have received dignified care, alongside genuine concern fostering superb outcomes. During all major operations my incredibly skilled surgeon has even visited the ward on his day off. Having close family members being simultaneously treated for the same BRCA gene related cancer in two other medically advanced countries I greatly appreciate my comparatively seemingly seamless NHS treatment has been ‘gold standard’ and free. Recently having moved home and health authorities I remain indebted to the dedicated staff at the RBH. I am especially appreciative of my talented surgeon, oncologists and the breast cancer nurses, the often unsung heroes of our precious NHS.
