What I liked

The nursing staff and doctors in both MTU and EMU where I was treated over two days forexacerbations of asthma were outstanding. Whilst my health and wellbeing was the most important thing to them they also recognised the importance to me of being sent home as soon as possible!! I was spoken to by consultants on ward rounds with consideration and felt as though they were talking to me about potential changes on my treatment and looking for my opinion also. I was also given advice and treatments to look in to in advance of returning for future out patients appointments which left me with feeling somewhat in control of my asthma again.

What could be improved

Unfortunately I would have to say the food - I have a dairy free dietary requirement and unfortunately all I was actually offered from being in hospital from 3pm to 11am the next day was dry toast, fortunately I was able to get up and walk to the shop in the entrance.

Also, this is not by any means a complaint and I think is reflected in hospitals around the UK, but being in mixed wards can make for a less comfortable recouperation. Whilst I realise I am no longer a child at 25 I wonder if there is something that could be done regarding having patients of closer ages on nearer to one another. I was with ladies over three times my age and whilst they were most pleasant I am sure it was equally as uncomfortable for them to be on a ward with people so much younger as it was for me.

Anything else?

Whilst I hope never to darken their door again, all staff at the hospital were fantastic and I thank them for all they did to ensure my recovery was as speedy as possible.
