"My mother being released from hospital"

About: Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology Waltham Forest

(as a relative),

My mother 94 came in to Redditch Alexandra hospital. Ward 9 where she was cared for very well by the staff. On Friday we are told she can come home but we need to have a care package in place to ensure that mother is safe and my sister who my mother lives with can cope. Mum is unhappy in hospital she is not eating and we as a family have seen a decline. The doctors and the ward staff say mum need to be discharged but she is not allowed home as she has not been assessed by whoever!

We have been told that by the ward staff they are unable to give us the number to find out when mum will be assessed and that they are chasing this for us. This is unacceptable mum need to go home to familiar surroundings so she can be cared for by her family. We are very unhappy that we are not allowed to take mum

home even though the doctors have discharged her.

This is unacceptable that we have not allowed to contact the service who will assess mum and therefore keeping her In hospital.

Thank you for leaving your comment; I am very sorry to read of your mother's experience. We would be grateful if you could let us know some more details and whether you have already spoken to anyone at the hospital about this; please contact our Patient Services Department at patientservices.dept@worcsacute.nhs.uk or by phone on 0300 123 1733 so that we can look into this matter for you and arrange for you to speak with a senior member of staff. Regards
