"My in Hospital stay at St. Mandeville"

I was admitted to Stoke by Ambulance arranged by my GP surgery. My treatment and care from the moment the ambulance arrived to my being admitted, and during the whole time I was in the OAU and also Ward 10 was exemplary - the medical staff (nurses and doctors were caring, considerate, conscientious, professional, courteous, at all times even though they were frequently run off their feet. I really cannot thank everyone enough for such a positive experience and for me a good outcome medically. However, it was quite obvious that there are not enough doctors or nurse or beds in these units, but nevertheless, the standard of care I received was always extremely high. This situation must be rectified in the very near future. There was a very high percentage of staff who were not from the UK - many from Europe including Eastern Europe - which did not affect the high standards on the wards - they too were of the highest calibre, but must have been a costly exercise for the hospital because of the fees charged by the agencies which went to mainland Europe, etc to recruit these people. I was also appalled by the unbelievably disgusting hot food supplied by Tilllery Catering Services; it is hard to believe that this food is considered suitable for hospital patients. I wonder if the senior administrative staff partake of the same meals. What a waste of money when money is so scarce.. described as "
