Having just returned home I must say that the level of care is extremely good. Nothing was to much trouble and staff were always quick to respond to requests. Although finances dictate staffing levels there was always a nurse available and what a pleasant and friendly ward which made a 4 day bed bound stay bearable. Its a shame that admissions are not made over the weekend as my only negative observation would be that patients requiring to stay in over Saturday and Sunday may not have much company on the ward. Longer admissions seem to be made earlier in the week while day cases seem to come in and be discharged on Fridays or early Saturday. The hospital and staff on the ward prides itself on cleanliness and work hard to maintain this good reputation. Should surgery be required in the future then Bishop Auckland will be at the top of my list, even though there are nearer hospitals.
