Recently my father visited his GP surgery in Kirkby Liverpool. I think the way he was treated by the doctor was wrong.
My father was diagnosed with a chest infection and was given antibiotics on several different occasions as the infection was not clearing up. This later proved to be an incurable Mesothelioma (Lung Cancer). After several courses I spoke with my Father who was concerned the infection was not clearing up and as he is 77 and I did not want to worry him unnecessarily I asked my father to present a few questions to the doctor. This he did at surgery and he told me the doctor informed him that there was no time to answer these questions. I immediately rang the doctor (I live 250 miles away) who was at first, co-operative and friendly. However, as soon as I posed some questions I felt the doctor was unable to respond to them clearly.
After the doctor found out I live 250 miles away, it was suggested I visit the surgery with my father as there was no longer any time to speak about my father at this point.
I found this unacceptable as I wanted the doctor to speak to me about my father as I was very worried about him and his health.
An official complaint is pending with the authorities.
