About: Warrington Hospital

(as the patient),

I'm currently in the Daresbury ward in Warrington hospital. I've been in for 3days now and will be here for another day or two. The nurses in the ward are simply fantastic never grumpy or ignorant and always happy to help you. I'm here myself for surgery on my broken leg(fibula)to get a metal plate an screws inserted. I am in my own room which is better than some hotel rooms I've stayed in and much cleaner . While waiting for the surgery I have been on nil by mouth so have missed dinner and tea several times, however the nurses have always managed to find a sandwich even as late as 11.30pm (after I eventually came round after my surgery). All this makes an impression. The doctors /surgeons have been excellent letting me know what is going to be but also listening carefully to my questions and fears. I had my surgery yesterday and obviously in a great deal of pain however the night shift nurse made if clear that she was here to offer me my morphine any time in the night, in fact she explained that me not calling her when required would make her more angry ha ha. . . I'm 27 and have never had to stay in hospital before and I was not looking forward to it but I've been made very comfortable. We have all read the papers calling our NHS/nurses/doctors surgeons names etc. Well I can stress that these in Warrington are all at the top of there game, if there was a bar I'd get them all a pint.
