My Dentist had referred me for an opinion at the hospital and I had waited 12 weeks for an appointment. I presented for my appointment today and whist being aware that tis is a teaching hospital I still have the right to be seen by a qualified practitioner. On the understanding that if my condition was of interest to the student group and with my permission they be allowed to examine me. Not being student fodder first and the consultant visiting some time later. When I raised an objection to this I was told it is a teaching hospital didn't I read the letter? This attitude was offensive and I was spoken to by the consultant he reiterated the maxim its a teaching hospital be students first and then he would see me. I didn't like this I have always been seen by a senior and then permission sought to be seen by the students. The consultant said I could discharge myself or wait. I had left my disabled husband in the car and time was tight. I had trouble trying to complain on site and came home. So what they propose to do to help me out I don't know? I have no wish to go back.
