I had cause to visit the A&E department at Darent Valley about two am this morning with chest pains. I was seen very quickly by the triage nurse and then had an ECG and blood tests. Thirty minutes later a further ECG was taken and the results of the blood tests came within an hour or so.
At all times the nurses and the doctor were reassuring and extremely professional and displayed a very caring attitude. Fortunately I required no further treatment and my visit lasted approximately two hours.
Incidentally, an apparently drunk and homeless person was receiving treatment at the same time as me. I was extremely touched by the respect shown and the dignity afforded to him by the nursing staff and the doctor.
The waiting area floor was quite dirty and the bin overflowing- this could be improved.
