It was very helpful to be able to talk to another adult about why I thought I was depressed. It helped me to organise my thoughts and to “clarify” things for myself. I felt the counsellor was non-judgemental so I could be honest because he was not directly involved in the situation so he’d be objective. It was reassuring for me that he didn't consider me unreasonable.
I’m not sure that we had time to get to the fundamental reasons for my depression. I felt as though there was only the possibility for me to relate the facts of my current/recent situation and my reactions and not necessarily to look at why I have reacted with depression. I think talking about it, has probably to some extent, helped me to accept things that I can’t change and to move forward somewhat.
