Very happy with the swift and thorough treatment that I was given by the ambulance and a&e staff a scan was taken within a few hours . Arrived at a&e 11.30 held in a clinic area( ward 30 I think) for a few hrs on a bed and then taken to Day Surgery for 4days .My only complaint was that after I had another scan on the Saturday morning and the doctor decided that I could go home that day(11.30) after waiting 5hrs in a chair and the nurse in charge saying it could easily be another couple of hrs I suggested that I would take responsibilty for myself and discharge myself as I wasn't waiting for a prescription just a discharge letter. I asked her why it was takeoff so long and she said it's always the same at the weekend due to staffing levels the remark was made that if it was in the week and they needed the bed I would have been discharge within the hour. Why can't the doctor give the information for the discharge to a senior member of staff on the ward to deal with it instead of waiting until they can get back to the ward to do it .I wasn't the only one waiting one lady in her late eighties had to delay her son for hrs while she waited. That was three beds held up on one ward just because of discharge letters.
