"If I can do that I can do anything"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had a long labor with my son I found out it was a back to back labor at 10cm dilated when I was ready to push. I had to be cut and then I tore really badly but I remember not being sure if I could manage I was really tired and obviously in a lot of pain luckily I managed and my son was born naturally and healthy weighing 7lb 9oz in December 2011.

I felt very guilty about my midwife staying 30 mins after her shift ended which she told me after I had gave birth that she should of been at church with her family but instead she was helping with my sons delivery. I apologised to her for her missing church and I remember telling me how well I had done and crying that meant a lot to me and days when I'm feeling down I remember that and think if I could do that I can do anything.
