"Ward 43 and Treatment of my Father"

About: Tameside General Hospital

My father (95) was recently admitted suffering from pneumonia and gallstones. Following admission to A & E and the MAU, he was transferred to Ward 43 for further tests and treatment. I cannot believe the rapid improvement not only in his physical health, but also his mental condition. After 4 or 5 days, he was pain free and mentally far more alert. The ward is spotless and the staff friendly, helpful and extremely professional. My thanks go to all the staff, especially a senior staff nurse who genuinely takes a personal interest in all the patients under her care. She always has time for family members to discuss the condition of her patients and explained all aspects of care in great detail. I never felt that I was taking up her valuable time. Wonderful, caring people, and thank goodness for these underpaid Goddesses!

Thank you for taking the time to post these lovely comments. We are working hard to ensure patients receive the best care and treatment and it is great to receive feedback like this. I will ensure your comments are passed to all involved in your fathers care. Thank you again and may I take this opportunity on behalf of myself and the staff to wish you and your family well. John Goodenough Director of Nursing ‘’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at john.goodenough@tgh.nhs.uk
