I'm pregnant and had to go into A&E with heart palpitations. The queue into the car park was very long, so I called the switchboard and was put through to the parking dept. I was guided over the phone to a free parking space right outside the doors to A&E, which was amazing. Being pregnant with a dodgy heart meant I was seen instantly and received swift, excellent, friendly care in Resus. The procedure I had to have to stop the palpitations was unpleasant from experience but the staff made it so much better with their warmth of care. I was kept in for observation for a couple of hours in a CDU ward which was very comfortable. I was offered a cup of tea within minutes of arriving at this ward which was a lovely touch. I'm so grateful to live in a country where I can receive excellent free at the point of use health care. I know waiting times can be far too long, but when you need the NHS in an emergency, they really are there for you.
"Short stay in A&E - excellent care"
