"Cardiology. Please answer your phone!!"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

As a couple of other people have stated in their reviews, trying to speak to someone at the cardiology dept is like trying to get blood from a stone. I have rung on numerous occassions over the last week to check a pacemaker appt date that is upcoming. I have been through the main switchboard and also on the direct number I was given from the switchboard. On every occassion it has gone through to an answerphone. I left a message a week ago and so far have not received a reminder of my appt in the post as requested, so rang again today n left another message asking for a phone call back or a letter as soon as possible, as I am trying to make arrangements for a family visit and don't want the dates to clash. If I miss the appointment they would be telling me off! I will say however, that any treatments I have had in the dept have been first class n all the staff are very pleasant and helpful. i just wish they would answer the phone!!

Dear Anonymous Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of trying to phone our Cardiology Department, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I will make sure your comments about this are passed onto the team concerned and their manager to see where we can address this capacity issue. I am very pleased to hear that your actual care experience from the department is good, but I can fully appreciate the concern and anxiety not being able to contact them may add. If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand where we can try to improve our services for every patient visiting our hospitals and services, you can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471/ 01254 733704 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. Or if you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Many thanks again for taking the time to comment and I do hope you receive your reminder letter soon Wendy Stobbs, Senior Patient Experience Facilitator
