"Staff really did exceed my expectations"

I visited my doctor at Ombersley Medical Centre and during an examination on my back, she noticed a mole that she was not happy with. After a brief consultation with another doctor at the practice, she advised me that she was referring me to the Worcester Royal Hospital.

Imagine my surprise when I was telephoned during the afternoon in mid January, and was offered an appointment on the following day at 11: 30am. To say I was amazed was a real understatement.

I attended hospital today – admittedly, finding a car parking space was a complete nightmare – but arrived in the Redwood Unit around 10: 30am. To my surprise, I was seen by the Doctor at around 11: 00am and the decision was made to remove the mole.

Without any delay, I was taken into the surgical area of the unit and was attended to by two wonderful nurses – Rose and Charlotte. The attention that I received during the procedure was second to none – they put me at ease, gave a full explanation of what was going to happen, they were both very jolly and easy to get along with, and they put music on to relax me, sang along to the tunes – an amazing pair of people who really cared about making me feel relaxed and happy about the procedure.

Therefore, I would like my comments to be made known to the doctor that I saw, but also to Rose and Charlotte who carried out the procedure and if possible, for my comments to be passed onto the management concerned. Everyone seems far too quick to criticise the NHS, and whilst it is not perfect, my treatment today at the Redwood Unit was very much appreciated and the staff really did exceed my expectations in every way.
