"Waiting time ridiculous!"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I am writing this after 4 hours waiting to be seen by the doctor to have a cast put on my hand. I have already been in the hospital since 11am in minor injuries. The time now is 5:30pm and I've been waiting in Plastics since 1:15pm! I understand there is a list with priority orders of patients, but surely this cannot be acceptable? Is Leicester hospital simply too big with not enough staff? A nurse has just informed me there will be at least another hours wait, more people are being added to the list, so most likely to be longer! I will definitely not be returning to Leicester hospital for any further treatments. I would rather drive an hour out of Leicester City, to a smaller hospital with better reviews and waiting times. I don't normally leave reviews or complaints, but if we don't speak out, then change will never happen.

Response from Leicester Royal Infirmary

Dear reviewer, We are incredibly sorry about the waits you have experienced with us. As you are most probably aware, there is a huge amount of pressures on hospitals at the moment, not just in Leicester but also nationally. This pressure on Emergency and Urgent Care does of course have a knock on effect to other services. If you would like to discuss the issues you faced in more detail, please send your name, address, date of birth and further information about your experience with us to Service Manager Sarah.Morley@uhl-tr.nhs.uk who would be happy to look into this for you. Best wishes Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
