(as a parent/guardian),

My mum was referred for hip pain and has been given an appointment to see the consultant 7 months after GP referred her. I wondered if NHS Highalnd are running behind time with the waiting list guarantee and, if so, when should she expect a date for a hip replacement, if the consultant places her on the waiting list?

Dear highland daughter

We are a bit behind with our treatment times, certainly further behind than any of us would like. We have seen a significant increase in the number of referrals to our service and have been unable to meet the demand. We are working hard with the team to look for solutions to get back on track, but I am very sorry that patients like your mum are not treated fast enough.
