"Care with dignity"

My father Alfred Jump aged 90 with Alzheimers was admitted at 11.30pm on Sunday21st Dec. It was so busy but a doctor reviewed dad promptly before Going into triage The ambulance staff were great although it was wrong how long handover took due to triage being too small No it's not understaffed it's just too small We were given tea by a lovely staff nurse Who appreciated my stress and sadness as dad was dying After seeing the doctor a treatment plan was discussed and agreed with sensitivity We were then put in a small bedroom in a quiet area to await transfer back to dads care home The liaison with DNs and home was good The liaison with pharmacy was lax The slowness let the service down Finally at about 6 an ambulance conveyed dad back to his residence He died near midnight with dignity back in his own room having received great care Thank you Whiston, the McMillan nurses and AE staff and the doctor But pharmacy is hopeless it lets the service down.
