"Concern for elderly relative"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

Apparently it is only of slight concern for a 90 year old patient to not eat anything for 9 days.

After feeling sick and refusing some meals my mother in law is now unable to eat and the staff that do care don't have time, the ward manager doesn't care.

It feels like they are trying to free up a bed as a staff nurse was reprimanded for calling a doctor when the patient was quiet clearly unwell and has since been diagnosed with yet another infection contracted during her stay.

I am sorry to hear that about the issues your mother in law has encountered whilst an inpatient at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Unfortunately, without further details I am unable to investigate these issues further for you. However, I do advise that if your mother in law is still an inpatient within the Hospital to contact the Matron, they will be able fully investigate your concerns and act on them immediately. Alternatively, if you do not feel comfortable speaking to the Matron, you can contact our Patient Relations team on 01253 955589 or patient.relations@bfwhospitals.nhs.uk

Thank you for leaving your story here on Patient Opinion and once again please accept our apologies that your mother in laws experience did not meet your expectations.

Yours sincerely

Simone Anderton

Thank you for the response. I would be very unhappy if I had to speak to the ward manager as she lies.

Unfortunately due to clinical errors my mother in law was cremated on 7th January after the absolute farce that was called a discharge.
