My mum was treated there for several weeks after a stroke, and we were told she had to be discharged to a nursing home with just 2 weeks notice, over Christmas and New Year, whilst norovirus was active in the hospital, and I found the Consultant was abrupt in demanding that myself (on immune suppressants, which he had been advised about) and my 90 year old father visit to tell her the score, and that when we told him our own health would be compromised by coming in without protective measures, I was told to "manage your expectations of the NHS." I was advised by a GP to make a formal complaint about this, but one picks one's battles. We saw fresh blood splatters in lifts and public areas on more than one occasion, and whilst some staff went the extra mile, especially Social Work team and HCAs, I was shocked at how some staff seem to treat the elderly as an inconvenience. From experience in Higher Education for healthcare professionals, I have concerns both about cleanliness issues, and some staff members' communication style.
"unclean and some very brusque staff"
