"Terrible Experience"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

where do i start, my sister was admitted to wansbeck hospital about two weeks ago from rake lane after having a stroke, the staff are doing their best as it is a busy ward 9, visiting is 3 till 7 wk days, wk ends shorter, she seems to be going down hill, she gets left lying in her own urine, waits to long when she presses her buzzer, when her food arrives its only warm, then waits until someone comes to feed her as at moment cant feed her self yet, by then its cold, my sister is only 62 yrs old, cant wait to get her out, i ask staff a question and never get a straight answer, she is always left just lying there looking lost and scared, i travel from gateshead every day getting 2 buses each way which is nearly 3 hours round trip, i get home around 9pm, very tired but worth as she is my "twin sister" after all, very worried brother.

Dear Sir, Thank you for sharing this with us - I am very sorry that you are not feeling at all reassured by the care your sister is receiving on ward 9. Your concerns as her brother matter a great deal to us. You will understand why I am as worried as you are about the care that you describe. It falls way below the usual high standards of the stroke team and I know the ward manager Joanne will be very keen to understand more and act immediately to put things right where she can. The anonymous nature of the reviews on NHS Choices make it really difficult for me to give patients and families a more personalised response.
