My 5 year old son has had his tonsils and adenoids removed. The pre op experience was brilliant. However the nursing care received after his operation is poor. I would question the value of being in hospital at all. His operation was at 10:00am and he suffered with constant vomiting since 1:00pm. After me asking and asking he was given some anti sickness medication which he then vomited up. There has been no support from the nurses at all. I am afraid to leave him to even go to the toilet as there is not even a nurse based on our ward to watch over him for me in case he is sick. He has not been offered any pain killers since 1:00pm, it is now 9:30 pm, and when I ask I am told they will get to me when they can. If he was at home at least I could give him some calpol. We are both sitting here in hospital in tears, him beside himself in pain, as am I with frustration. An awful experience. Please if you have a choice give this hospital a wide berth, and go somewhere else.
