For some years my local GP surgery in Shrewsbury Road, Newham has not operated an appointment system; you have to go and queue up on the day, among all the other ill people.
Last week I had to wait for 2 hours to see my GP, 45 minutes of which I was standing in a queue. There was a heavily pregnant woman in front of me who was obviously finding standing for so long hard, so I had to tell her I'd queue for her and let her back in at the last minute.
Not only is this system terrible for people who are in a weak physical condition, but I feel it also puts off many people from going to the doctor at all. Couldn't this system be improved?
