"Want to thank the paramedics for their help and support"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

On Friday I was taking my husband to the car when he fell. He had a stroke a few years ago and his walking is not too good – he also has dementia. He is quite a big hefty man and I am unable to help him get back up without assistance from the paramedics – this is the first time he has fallen, I've needed to call the paramedics previously when he has slipped out of his chair.

The paramedic, Gerry, was great, he had a lovely calming way in which he treated my husband who can get a bit agitated due to the dementia. He got my husband back on his feet and into the house where he was able to do a more thorough examination checking his blood pressure and sugar levels. He found that my husband had a nasty graze on his elbow from the fall, Gerry cleaned it up and dressed it.

I wanted to thank the paramedics for their help and support, particularly Gerry who came to our rescue on Friday.

Dear Lifted732

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope your husband is feeling much better now.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our patients when they need us most.

I would like to pass your kind comments onto Gerry and the ambulance crew who came to your aid. Would you be able to contact me, laura.martin@swast.nhs.uk or call 01392 453831, at your convenience, with the date and address that the ambulance attended? This would allow me to identify the staff involved and ensure they are recognised for the care they gave.

Thank you again for providing feedback on our service.

Kind regards

Laura
