I am a patient within the Western Cheshire PCT and have been having community nurses out daily to dress a sacral pressure wound that I have developed with being confined to a wheelchair.
Despite the best efforts of my community nurses who I could not ask for anything more of - they have been fabulous - I am finding difficulty in getting Vac Therapy for my wound to heal. I have had the ok from my consultant and my GP and all my specialist nurses for this to take place, but have now been waiting for over 3 weeks for this treatment to happen.
I find it disgusting that something that is needed so urgently and has been agreed by everybody who says i need this treatment for it to take so long to get this treatment up and running, and just because it has to come from separate funding.
If i was to be in hospital with this wound I would have had this treatment within a few days of being in. But because i am not showing signs of infection and everybody agrees that it would be best for me to be in my own surroundings to prevent infection and promote healing quicker, it takes so long for everything to happen.
I would really like a response for this and I would not like to be fobbed off to my local PALS service because to be quite honest, I feel all it does it make excuses for the failings of the NHS.
