"A/E Waiting Times"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

Having going to A/E with 77 year old dementia patient who had broken her wrist,I was appalled about the time sat around waiting to either have an x ray ,wait for porter, wait to see doctor, wait to have wrist put in plaster,in all 5 hours.Imagine how I had to cope with a distressed patient in pain and not understanding why she had to stay put on a hard trolley all this time.Even the x ray staff noticed while waiting yet again and decided to wheel her back themselves.when finally we were able to go home at 1-15am I asked could she have more painkillers as it had been nearly 6hours since the paramedics had given morphine and she was in agony we were given 2 paracetamols.Dementia Friendly I don't think so.Disgusting service just left to wait in cubicle.

Thank you for leaving this comment; it falls far below the standard of care and experience we expect to provide. The experiences you have described whilst in the A & E department are of concern. If you would like us to investigate this further please contact PALS@bthft.nhs.uk. Thank you.
