"No system in place at all!"

About: St James's University Hospital

I have been to eye casualty several times and have yet to have a good experience. On each occasion I have had a GP referral and an appointment time. I don't know why they bother to book appointments as it is based on patient priority and arrival time. After being told I had to wait 4 hours after booking an appointment for a check up, I asked the receptionist if there was an outpatient department as I obviously wasn't an emergency case this time. She rudely informed me that they didn't, and I could either wait four hours or leave. I chose to leave! I have a recurrent eye problem which has resurfaced, but due to my previous visits I am desperately trying to self medicate rather than face another tortuous visit to eye casualty! Not good.
