"Excellent Professional Service at A&E and Acute..."

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

My wife and I went to A&E at 8.50 am on 27 October as she had a very high and potentially dangerous heartbeat. Within a few minutes from arriving at reception, we were seen by the triage nurse who arranged an immediate ECG test. This set in motion a very professional , methodical and comprehensive series of tests to identify the problem. Medication was immediately given to reduce the heartbeat to a safe level, while blood tests and an x ray were organised. The cause of her condition was diagnosed and a follow up appointment was suggested with her GP. She was discharged the same day, feeling much better and very relieved to hear her condition was not dangerous. Throughout our stay in A&E and Acute Assessment I was very impressed at the way the doctors, nurses and support staff worked as a coherent and professional team. with a unified aim of helping and reassuring the patient. I want to thank all the staff for their kindness and care. While the Press may say the NHS is failing , I would say they exceed all expectation and pass with flying colours.
