I have been in chapman and barker unit a few times. My mum used to say i thought i was going on holliday. Absolutley brilliant place, every experience was different! Staff are brilliant really friendly and helpful, you really bond with them. You get yr own room with a key it consists of a bed, the only problem with the bed is the plastic sheet. Can get very sweaty! I put towels under sheet to stop sweating during the night! A wardrobe, if yr lucky you get a good amount of hangers if not staff will get you some from other clients! A wash basin and mirror attached to wall! Remember when packing to check toiletries for alcohol as your property will be searched and anything with alcohol in will be taken off you and given back to you when u leave. Your day is structured. Be dressed by 9, morning meeting just to make sure everyone is ok or as any problems. A group at 10-12 mixed group staff are brill. One nurse is brilliant, very passionate about his work really motivates you! 12.30 dinnertime. Meals are fresh hot nice food! Good variety.. Group again 2-4! Groups are different topics they help you understand addiction and hopefully overcome it! Tea 5.30. Evening chill time. Once a week you have n.a. And a.a. Visiting just to let you know about there services and when and where you can attend! Must stress how important aftercare is!! The weekends are quiet great sunday dinners though haha my only complant is there could be more to do weekends. Hopefully i would love to come bk and volenteer in the future, just waiting to start a practical recovery course and finished intuitive recovery, which i loved! Been clean and sober since 12 july.. 15 weeks today! Lovin life to the max.. One word to describe it is freedom! Thankyou chapman and barker team for helping me to get my life back. I would recommend you definatley.. Jennifer farnworth xx
