"A and E visit flowed by surgery"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

I came to A and E on Friday night with severe abdominal pain and was quickly assessed. The triage nurse did question whether I had a case of norovirus -I was vomiting so understandable - but they quickly found the problem and I was in surgery before the night was out for a hernia repair and bowel resection. I was treated really well until I came home six days later. The thing that sticks with me is the consultant on his ward rounds offering to buy an elderly lady a phone top up card as she had no credit and couldn't communicate with her family.
