"My Grandson"

About: Nevill Hall Hospital / Maternity care

(as a parent/guardian),

My Grandson in August 2014.

My daughter was admitted at 32 weeks because her 'waters' had broken and she was in some discomfort, (as well as being scared to death)

The staff in the maternity unit delivered my grandson by emergency C- section and he was transferred to SCBU along with his Mam a few hours later. The little lad was only approx. 3lbs when born. He is now almost 11 weeks old and is a strapping 9lb 6oz- I can relax.

The staff in SCBU were absolutely brilliant - professional, helpful and mostly friendly, even under duress from what is obviously a very stressful job.

All those involved in the birth and subsequent development of little grandson

have my heartfelt gratitude and admiration, (even though the midwife nearly bit my head off once or twice) (I probably deserved it - I was just being a concerned Dad and Granch - honest).

You are worth your weight in gold, all of you.

Hello SBK,

Thank you very much for taking the time to send your comments to us via the Patient Opinion website. I have forwarded your feedback to the Department concerned, for them to relay the comments to relevant staff there.

Your comments are very much appreciated, and may I take this opportunity of wishing you, your daughter and your grandson all the best for the future.

Regards,

Update posted by SBK (a parent/guardian)

You're welcome!

For further information, myself and a colleague are in the early stages of organising a fund-raising event to benefit the dept in Nevill Hall.

It is likely to include dinner, dance, live entertainment, auctions, raffles etc etc. The event is likely to be held in Spring of next year, local to Abergavenny.

I will keep the dept. advised if they so wish.

Yours

SBK
