I use to spend a lot of time in the hospital with chest infections until my consultant said I could be treated at home. So I had a portacath fitted and I'm on my second week of treatment at home. The O PAT Nurses and the community nurses come three times a day to give me my antibiotics. It is better than being in the hospital and I don't feel any intrusion with the nurses coming into my home, instead I feel like a friend is visiting me. Everyone is so kind and always ask me on their visits if I am feeling ok. Nothing is to much trouble and I can go out between treatment too. Also, when I was in the hospital I couldn't eat anything so had to have fortisips supplements but I have managed to eat normal food with home treatment. So thank you the nurses team you are fantastic.
