About: Stepping Hill Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

I was due to go today to have a pain block procedure done, after being in pain severe pain for nearly 3 years with abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. I have already been pushed around from pillar to post. I saw the Pain Dr a few weeks ago and he recommended the pain block. When I got to the hospital today I was told the list had been cancelled, despite their assurances that they had, nobody had rang me to let me know, I checked my phone when I got home and there was no call from them. So I had spent an hour sat on a bus whilst in pain for no reason and I am now having to go back again to have this procedure done. Their excuse was that the Dr who shouldve been doing it had been on call the night before and the only other 2 Drs that could do it were in theatre. This is an absolutely disgraceful way to treat sick people and I just hope the people that let it happen have to go throught it themselves one day. As even when I booked in I wasnt told it was cancelled, only hen I got to the actual suite where it should have been done.

Anything else?

The hospital should have brought someone in to do this list, or at the very least contacted people so that they didnt travel needlessly, which you just dont need when you are in alot of pain. Lets hope whoever is responsible for this happening is going to have to account for it.
