I'm quite unusual in that I think I met nearly every consultant, doctor and midwife (plus all supporting staff) at Lister Hospital!!!! My pregnancy journey begun at the early pregnancy unit and then at our nuchal scan, our baby came back as high risk of downs (so we got to know the absolutely lovely fetal medicine midwife) and then because of my pregnancy history, I was under consultant care and monitoring at day assessment unit (fantastic staff who work there) but at around 33 weeks it was confirmed my placenta was still low lying and after 2 fresh bleeds, I was admitted for just short of 5 weeks to the Dacre ward. I am home now after having my baby on Monday and can't understand how I coped being away from my husband and 2 children but I did because of 1) I had to and 2) because of the support and reassurance I received from the midwives, consultants, doctors (and other staff) in the Dacre ward. I wasn't a needy patient for medical care but I did need a listening ear at times but even just a midwife arriving on a busy shift with a smile asking me how I was meant so much. (They will tell you that I could talk! But I did tell them not to talk to me if they were busy!). The member of staff who runs the ward is brilliant and the list of midwives I could thank goes on and on!!! As does the student midwives and all the supporting staff on the ward. Special thanks to the midwife who cared for me for delivery of our beautiful daughter in the birthing pool in the CLU. I can honestly say I didn't meet any medical professional that I didn't trust the opinion of and to be listened to and involved in all my care was invaluable. Thank you Lister Maternity, you are all great!!
"Outstanding support, care and advice"
