"Horrendous level of care, please avoid"

I was taken to the RLH against my will, as I had a miscarriage at 20 weeks at home and had to rushed to the nearest hospital by ambulance. The overall lack of responsiveness, professionalism and attendance in the (seemingly quiet) labor ward was shocking. None of the midwives that tended to me showed any empathy, sympathy or human emotion, apart from one who had to deal with my sudden outburst of tears. I was put in a delivery room by myself for numerous hours without so much as a glass of water or painkillers, although I asked for both. The only time they responded was when my husband finally came to see me in the room and when he heard the state that I was left in he actually had to go out and search for the midwife in charge, to which he shouted that she needs to go and have a look at me. It took them 6 hours to find an obstetrician who could take 10' to see me; however when they actually came into the room, the only thing they seemed interested in doing was to go over the post mortem authorization form with me and my husband. Needless to say their capacity to communicate himself in English was limited and they misspelled both our surnames in the form (which constitutes a formal document) Shockingly enough, the doctor avoided examining me or offering me a scan (or any possibility of a future scan to see how I was after the mc) despite the fact that I had delivered baby a few hours ago and was still bleeding. In the end they discharged me without even so much as having a look at me or arranging for a follow up check/visit/scan Horrendous experience overall, wouldn't wish it on anyone. It has been two weeks since the incident and we have not been contacted by any of the midwives who are supposed to come to the house at least once as a follow up. There was nobody to consult about any further special care (such as counselling or a bereavement midwife), the only thing they did was hand us a load of leaflets with information and off we went..... it's shocking to find an entire labor ward staffed with people who deal with human beings and who are lacking any basic training in bedside manner, or any common decency, empathy or respect to a grieving mother who is experiencing probably the most shocking experience of her life. Needless to say that they never answer their phones in the antenatal, post natal or labor wards ever. Avoid at all costs
