"Prompt and professional care for my baby's heart problem at Stepping Hill"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a relative),

My son was only 10 weeks old when he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. It came as a total shock to me as there were no problems during my pregnancy.

My GP sent us to Stepping Hill Hospital because he was concerned that my baby looked blue around the mouth and he wasn't gaining weight. I will always be thankful to my GP Dr Levy, who acted promptly and sent us to the hospital straight away.

At Stepping Hill he was attended to immediately by a registrar. All of a sudden a whole team of doctors gathered round my son, because he did not have enough oxygen in his blood. The doctors diagnosed that he had a heart defect and arranged a bed for him in Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool.

My son went in an ambulance and the Paediatric Consultant, Dr Miller accompanied him in the ambulance all the way to Liverpool. I really appreciate the way he helped my son.

At a follow up appointment he said that he couldn't risk my son's life by sending him alone. He was very caring and professional.

A big thankyou to all the staff at the Treehouse, Stepping Hill.
