"Getting to know staff sessions"

About: Forensic mental health

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I would like to have a group session on Seacole Ward, The Wells Road Centre where staff and patients can meet together and get to know each other so that if you change named nurse you already know the staff taking over. Like a named nurse session but with groups of people.

Thank you for sharing your idea with us. The team on Seacole ward are currently planning to have structured reflection groups on a regular basis which will involve staff and patients. The focus will be to meet and share opinions on the atmosphere of the ward and apporaches to working together for ahealthy community. This will be in addition to Community meetings and will create space for people to meet together, without day to day distractions and duties taking priority at those times.

The reflection group has been meeting on a fornightly basis with staff and patients. The aim has been to provide space to talk about interpersonal relationships and how issues such as how the atmosphere of the ward can be improved or maintained so that people are able to think about individual and group wellbeing.

I think that this has been of real benefit to both staff and patients.
