"Thanks to the Burns Unit"

About: Broomfield Hospital

I spent about 5 days in the ICU at St Andrews after being flown in from 3 weeks in a Matinique hospital following a nasty burns accident on holiday. From the moment I arrived, unable to walk, disorientated and with DVT that had developed on the journey, the staff were wonderful. I will always remember the Weetabix and ice cold milk that came as a result of my request - it was like nectar after 3 weeks of being fed through a tube or given tasteless mushy pap. Without exception, the staff were unfailingly cheerful and kind - even at 3am when it all became too much and I howled . The burns are healing, the DVT is diminishing - thank you all very much
