About: Fitzwilliam Hospital

My father attended this hospital back in May for a hip replacement as a private patient. Very soon after his operation he became seriously ill and was transferred to the city hospital. It appears that whilst in the Fitzwilliam hospital he had caught a bacterial infection and spent in total 13 weeks in three NHS hospitals including 11 days in critical care fighting for his life. My father is out of hospital now and in recovery still but despite contacting the hospital for an explanation of how he could have got so ill in their care, he has been totally ignored with no response and no explanation. I should point out that prior to be admitted to hospital he had no underlying health problems other than his crumbling hip joint. I see how quick the hospital has been on this web site to answer 'minor' complaints and yet their lack of response to my father has been just appalling. There has been no accountability, no communication, no explanation and no responsibility since they packed him off in an ambulance 4 days after surgery. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.
