In January this year I was admitted to Doncaster Royal Infirmary due to an inflamed gall bladder and appendix. It all started on Monday 12th, when I had an emergency appointment with my doctor, who sent me straight to the assessment ward at Doncaster. The staff on the ward were under immense pressure with only two young doctors and only a few nurses on duty. Also there was only one examination room in use. I had to wait over 8 hours for a bed and only after nearly passing out in the waiting room did I get one. I was suffering from my appendix and also gall bladder which were both inflamed and causing me a great deal of pain.
This NHS experience was worse than the last one which occurred in 2007, when I went go to A&E by ambulance after suffering a severe angina attack. That time I was treated and given a bed on a ward within 4 hours.
