"Contact with TRAQS was a surprise"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

When I attended my GP it was to ask him to refer me to 2 specialists. I expected to hear from the hospital (in Gobowen) direct so it was a surprise when TRAQs contacted me. However my referral was to specific specialists and initially TRAQs did not pick this up.

It was only when I mentioned it that they went back to my GPs referral and found the names were listed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with the TRAQS team.

I am sorry that your GP did not inform you that you would be contacted by someone from the TRAQS team to discuss your referral. TRAQS supply all GP practices with TRAQS Patient Information leaflets which should be handed to the patient when the decision to refer for further treatment is made. This helps to avoid confusion when one of the team contacts the patient.

I am disappointed that we did not identify that your referral was addressed to a specific consultant. We do ask for this information to be clearly marked on the referral letter so that we can direct the referral as requested. I will remind the team of the importance of checking this information and thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I am pleased that you were able to bring this to the attention of the person you spoke to and they were able to amend the Choices to pass your referral to the correct consultant as requested.

Thank you again for providing feedback to the team as this helps us to develop the service further for the benefit of the patients registered with GPs in the Telford and Wrekin area.
