"Thanks to everyone from A&E to coronary care"

About: Barnsley Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

In February this year I was admitted to Barnsley Hospital with a heart attack. The best things about my treatment were that I was seen straight away in A&E, by a young nurse called Elizabeth who was very good at her job. I was then seen by a young doctor who admitted me straight away.

The car parking could have been better. I thought the facility was very poor especially in emergencies. It takes too long to find somewhere to park.

After hearing all the flack about Barnsley I can't praise them enough. Being very surprised at having a heart attack, I was immediately put at rest by information given to me on coronary care. The staff were excellent at their work as they couldn't help enough and were very punctual when needed. I suffer a water problem and not once did I have to wait for a commode which sometimes can be very stressful. I was not made to feel angry or upset at any point. Therefore, I would like to thank the team on coronary care as they are excellent at their jobs. I would like a big thank you to Dawn, Mark and Kara. The sisters were also good but I cannot remember their names. I would like to give a big thank you to the staff nurse Dawn Haywood my facilitator. I find her very easy to talk to as she is very good at explaining things to you. She helps you in many ways to feel at ease and gives you information which is very useful for the future. I hope I have made a good friend, of which I am sure I have. Well done Dawn. Thanks to everyone from A&E to coronary care. At a later date I am going to visit Dorothy Hyman for rehabilitation.
