"Fracture clinic"

My son had an appointment with the fracture clinic to see if his ankle was healed. The appointment was at 10.20am. There were a number of clinics running so there was little space in the waiting area, and not much chance of getting a seat. An announcement came over the loudspeaker advising the clinics were running late. The one my son was booked in for was 40 minutes from the appointment time. However, after an hour past our original appointment time we had still not been called. So I approached a nurse who had just come out to call another patient. I asked her if my son was due to be seen soon as it had been an hour. She said that she would check. 10 minutes later she came back out and informed me that she had one patient in front if us and then it would be my sons turn. So we waited. Finally at 11.45 my sons name was called. We were shown into a room and told the consultant would be with us shortly. 5 minutes later the consultant came in, got my son to remove the boot and walk around. Asked my son if there was any pain, which there was not, then told us that he didn't see any problems and my son was discharged. The appointment lasted for about 30 seconds, literally. Upon returning to the car park I was charged £3.00 for parking, for which I am annoyed, as if we had been seen at our appointed time, we would have been in and out in no time and the parking charges would have been minimal. I feel that an hour and a half past an appointed time is unacceptable. What is the point in giving appointments if they are unable to keep to them? Perhaps they should just tell people to turn up on a certain day and wait to be seen. At least then people know they will have to wait for hours instead of turning up expecting to be seen at a certain time and it not happening.
