"Held like an animal. No help given"

I had a brief stay in the Gordon Hospital on the Gerrard Ward at the start of August. I could get over the the fairly tired decor, the bedroom comparible to a prison cell and the tree of hope that made me feel physically sick. I couldn't get over the lack of respect. I was harassed by male patients, assaulted by a female and left totally confused frustrated and scared by the lack of communication to me about what was happening. At no point during my stay did anyone sit down and talk to me about a possible diagnosis or care plan. I was an informal patient, yet I was treated with the permanent threat looming that they would section me if i expressed any slight emotion or difference of opinion. Even though I agreed to stay they suddenly decided to put me on a section 5.2 Which left me feeling like this was an abuse of the system - as they knew full well I wouldn't be detainable under a mental health act assessment. They just bought them self 72 more hours. and no surprise I didn't see a doctor until the very end of that time period. The worst part was when I was transferred out of the blue to a different hospital, no one told me why or for how long . It was a traumatic experience and although some staff are lovely there is a number who seem to be 'cut off' and unable to interact with patients in a non rude aggressive manner. The food i also wouldn't feed my dog it was so disgusting. I went 3 full days with out eating anything and at no point in my stay did i eat one of their meals. Ironically I lost weight and even though they should have been aware I had an eating disorder they didn't seem to bat an eyelid. Just laughed and said "are you on hunger strike?" A pretty awful experience and i'm in no better position now than when i entered the hospital.
