Second biopsy under local anaesthetic 8 days after first as more samples required. Was still very bruised and sore from first biopsy, yet it seems about half the pain relief which could have been used was actually given in the first instance. When it became evident after the first sample was taken that I found the procedure very painful, more pain relief was given. Unfortunately, taking the third sample caused extreme pain. Clearly insufficient pain relief had been given for a procedure on an already very bruised area. Major muscle has been affected - and nerve pain was severe until a chiropractor managed to sort out the pain emanating from the clavicle affecting all areas above and below that. Two months later the local sensitivity is only just beginning to recede. The actual operation subsequently was a breeze by comparison and I barely needed the follow-up pain relief given after that. It would have been better given after biopsy. Had to ask for some pills before I could drive home afterwards.
Improvements would be advance warning that a procedure might be required, appropriate and adequate pain relief, accurate follow up information and a warning that someone to take me home would be desirable
